Highlights and Happenings

    AUGUST 19

We have had a wonderful start to the school year. The students seem very excited to be back and are on their way to doing great things this year. Our first school Mass yesterday was excellent. Mrs. Biershenk sang beautifully and Father Gaston shared an inspiring message for our students and teachers. Thank you all for working with us and sending us such wonderful children. IT'S GOING TO BE AN OUTSTANDING YEAR!

We have created St. Bernard School Goals for 2017-2018. They Are...

    1.  We will work with our students so that they develop an active Catholic Christian faith life that includes prayer, service to others, and positive faith filled decisions that are based in the Gospel message and church teachings of peace, forgiveness, love and social justice.

    1. We will challenge our students to reach their maximum potential emotionally, academically, spiritually, and socially to prepare them to become highly qualified candidates for the high school of their choice.

    1. We will work collaboratively to research and develop academic activities that incorporate the valuable components of STEM across the curriculum.  We will find appropriate resources that will to allow us to create these engaging STEM lessons in all classrooms.

    1. We will continue to foster the importance of understanding and living Christian values among our school population. Students will more clearly understand that all behaviors, positive, and negative, have consequences and they are ultimately the ones who are responsible for the choices they make.

    1. We will commit to teaching critical technology skills, such as keyboarding, solving common tech problems, and how to be good digital citizens, into our lessons, so that students are better prepared for the future.

We currently have 198 students enrolled at St. Bernard. We have room to grow. If you know of any good families that would enhance our school community please have them contact the school office. We are specifically looking for Kindergarten Students and PreK 3 Students. Thanks for your help.

The St. Bernard Parent/Student Handbook is on the website and renweb - All families MUST print off the last page sign and return to school ASAP.

MEET-THE-TEACHER NIGHT is Thursday, August 24th. This is a PARENT ONLY EVENT. We will start in the gym at 6:00PM

I hope you all read the "SOLAR ECLIPSE" Form that was sent home yesterday carefully? This is an opt out form. If you want to have your child participate in this spectacular event on Monday you should NOT have signed the form and sent it back to school. We have purchased NASA approved goggles for all of our students. The event promises to be quite awesome. If you feel you may have sent the form back to school by mistake please contact Melissa in the office and she can check.
